AUG. 15th 1944 in Provence

60 years ago, on Aug 15th 1944, American troops landed in Provence. That landing was less spectacular than the landing in Normandy, but we must remember it. Since we are very close from this anniversary, we want to say THANK YOU to these soldiers who risked their lives to free France and Europe.

These pictures have been given to us by Julian Mitchell who participated to that event, and landed at the place where we have now a vacation house. One day, he visited my wife's store in Wellesley, MA, because he heard about that store dedicated to Provence. For that, he drove from Rhode Island (he is in good shape, but no longer a young man...), and spoke with us about his landing, and the visits he makes almost every year to Cavalaire. And so, we discovered that Julian Mitchell landed exactly where, now, we have a vacation home.

THANK YOU JULIAN !

and THANK YOU TO ALL THE SOLDIERS WHO LANDED IN FRANCE 60 YEARS AGO.
